ADSL Fast to Super Fast, but not available everywhere. Cable, Fast available more widely than ADSL. I am 100% satisfied with my @Home cable connection, also cheap, 39.95 per month Canadian. That's about 25.00 US.

I haven't done much research on ADSL for quite some time, as I have no ambition to change.

ADSL is GREAT. A real bargain at $39.95/month.

Looking for information on the merits/disadvantages of ADSL versus cable modem connection.

Caution: Opinion from an amateur

ADSL:Under optimum conditions-Slower speeds download and especially upload...trickier install, still some bugs.....more expensive....have to be close to phone hub to work (approximately 2-3 miles)...runs on top of regular phone lines...reliability of phone service is greater than cable

Cable: Faster speeds under optimum conditions...when your "loop" has a lot of traffic, speeds sometimes slower than 56K dialup modem.....generally cheaper....when your cable connection goes down (not infrequently in my area)you are toast
