Different sizes of clumps. Clay has the ends going every which way when dry but they line up when wet. Makes it slick. Almost life at a very low level. You know how to line up when wet? Ok, clay soil. A little sand won't hurt to loosen it up but that ain't the whole answer. Compost. Left over veggies, grass clippings, leaves, all piled together and left to rot. Peeing on the pile helps by adding nitrogen and is fun to do. Oh, and stir it too. Got some extra horse shit, skip it and find cow patties. Horse crap will add cockle burr. If you add chicken shit, don't pee on the pile.
