Hi Mark:

QAM is used in a wide variety of applications: cable
modems (as you note), ADSL and VDSL (though for ADSL,
multiple carriers are used), MMDS, LMDS and high
rate microwave links in general.

LMDS is far from unproven: WCII, TBGNT and ARTT are
moving fast in rolling out broadband wireless services
for business. It is the residential market which
is questionable (all of the above mentioned companies
use antennas on top of office buildings).

T acquired a bunch of 38Ghz licenses when it bought
Teleport (part of the Biztel subsidiary of Teleport).

The NTRO sell-off is just a valuation correction.
As I indicated in one of my early posts on this thread,
NTRO would already be richly valued if it traded
in the $10-$15 range. I will not touch it until
the price settles down to a realistic level. I
think the tax loss season in December should be a
good time to get in. Otherwise, the company is
doing fine. It is still a small company, for which
expectations have run away from the fundamentals.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
