Durban Roodepoort Deep to finance acquisitions with share issue

SEP 27, 1999, M2 Communications - South African gold miner Durban
Roodepoort Deep Ltd (DRD) says that shareholders have approved its plan
to issue up to 15m new shares to pay for its purchase of the
Hartebeesfontein Mine in South Africa and to finance acquisitions in
Australia and Asia. DRD is currently bidding for Hargraves Resources,
an Australian gold producer with an annual output of about 70,000
ounces of gold per year. The offer for Hargraves, in which DRD already
has a 19% stake, forms part of DRD's plan to establish a production
base of up to 500,000 ounces/year in Australia. (Dow Jones Newswires,
