I agree. Valence seems to have encountered the same problems in fall of 97, and revealed them in February 98 (the famous "goo" comment by Lev). They found the problems about 4-6 months after their first trial runs in spring of 97.

ULBI installed similar equipment mid-98, and now in August 99, admitted problems. I suspect they discovered the problems by February 99. Their timeline seems to be very similar to Valence, except they are about a year and a half behind.

The Japanese just installed their equipment last winter and spring, according to press releases... they should be running into the same problems Valence and Ultralife did right about now, if they follow a similar timeline.

Boy, am I glad Valence has these problems behind them. The Ultralife conference call was all too reminiscent of Valence's February conference call in 1998.
