DENVER, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Webb Interactive Services, Inc.
(Nasdaq: WEBB) announced a partnership with Corel Corporation
(Nasdaq: CORL). This announcement expands on the two company's existing
relationship in web publishing and graphic services.
Webb will create a Linux-based Instant Message service, based on the
Jabber.org open source, XML-based instant messaging platform. Corel plans to
integrate the Jabber IM capability into the Corel Linux Desktop, providing
Corel users with one of the most advanced and open instant messaging solutions
on the market.
In addition to the distribution of Webb's implementation of Jabber IM,
Webb and Corel will be working together to expand the messaging service with
innovative new approaches to community and customer support services.
CommunityWare/XML is Webb's new integrated suite of community applications
that integrates the Jabber.org Instant Messaging system.
In August, Corel and Webb announced a partnership focused on graphic
services and web publishing. The companies will continue to pursue
collaborative opportunities that bring Webb's XML publishing and Corel's
graphics content and technologies together for next generation application
services for Corel's Linux Desktop consumer.
"This partnership is a great example of how we can extend and enhance the
Linux desktop with highly connected, value-added services for our customers."
Stated Dr. Michael Cowpland, Corel president and CEO. "Webb's adoption of XML
and open source development is highly compatible with Corel's strategic vision
of internet-based technologies."
"Webb and Corel have the opportunity to really lead the market with next
generation instant messaging, community and publishing applications." Stated
Perry Evans, Webb president. "Corel can bring millions of users to these
value-added services. Equally important, they have the vision and drive to
co-create innovative, industry-leading solutions. To us, that's the key to a
highly effective partnership."
