Jon- I gotta believe that the majority of those 15+million shorts are market neutral e.g. short sales against the box or long call/short stock positions put on to delay the tax man until next year. I can't imagine any major players still short this stock after getting their head handed to them time and time again. The January and February short interest figures should tell the tale there.

Nonetheless, that is still stock that will be bought back eventually. Couple a good December qtr. with the unwinding of these positions and we may have quite a pre-earnings run in the first two weeks of January. That would play right into the hands of Voltaire who was advocating rolling option plays out to Jan.
