Tom,
It's not just ALA, Nortel Networks is coming out with a new high speed optical routing and switching technology today: #reply-11380706

and from #reply-11381434
"It will provide lightning fast, highly reliable optical switching and routing capabilities that replace 'Old World' routers responsible for 57 percent of all Internet failures today, and deliver massive bandwidth where and when it is needed," Nortel said.

I guess Juniper has "Old World" technology now. <g>

At first blush these look like great announcements. ALA has always had a good product portfolio...their trouble has always been sales and marketing - especially here in the US. It looks like ALA is mirroring the strategy of LU, NT, and CSCO. Who know's...maybe it's a four horse race. I never counted ALA out but always looked at them as a second tier player. Perhaps because of thier inability to penetrate the domestic market - DSL being the one exception.
