Yeah, what a boondoggle!!! They've been trying to ween that pig off of subsidies for decades. The same Senator Gore who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and apparently peddled influence for Armand Hammer. The WSJ just detailed how the Gores were into funny money big time.

Actually you are wrong, but that fits the father of the father of the internet. At the insistence of Sen. George Norris of Nebraska, President Franklin D. Roosevelt agreed to support a regional federal agency that fit into his New Deal plan for revitalizing the economy, the TVA. Gore came on board MUCH MUCH later, entering Congress in 1939.

AlGore Sr. did try to take credit for Eisenhower's Interstate Highway program, when he initiated legislation in the Senate. AlGore1 did not try to take credit for destroying the many small towns that the highways bypassed, at his insistence.
