This is unusual because CNBC doesn't usually allow such extreme viewpoints to be aired... <<

I don't consider that extreme in the least. Fundamentals are still there, but y2k jitters and a clear breaking of the 200 dma by the dow could easily lead to a short term correction to 8000. Last time support was around 7600-8200, so it's no real surprise he picked this number...

That said I'm still heavily invested in the E&P's.
