Bill, as I mentioned to Joan, I didn't see the matches. I am in no position to comment. I thought the press reports were amusing.

No shortage of American golfers have bitched to high heaven about distractions caused by fans over the years.

Golf perhaps a bit of an anachronism in being marked by self regulation, lack of excuse, civility, decorum and deep respect for traditions of the game. When Nike throws tens of millions at the feet of Tiger and others, they probably hope to generate a little extra excitement. Wish they'd just pay the folks who make the shoes and forget "athletes with attitude."

FWIW, I've enjoyed sport all my life, but refuse to buy Nike or Bud'. Just another personal quirk.

If you were at the matches, I hope you enjoyed them. No doubt the vast majority attending behaved wonderfully.
