I'm curious about something... how would conservatives react to this. I know what Buchanan's position is and as I say I believe that is a red herring.

I will say that I was a student in a university where the engineering dept was predominantly Asian, and it was definitely a disadvantage to me. Berkeley at the time had racial quotas mind you, and they don't now.

It is interesting to watch the white parents out here on the other side of the fence watching their kids excluded from the top high schools. All of the sudden quotas become a requirement.

The focal point of the lawsuit by the Chinese American families was Lowell High School, The City's premier academic high school, where an admissions policy based strictly on entrance exams would produce a student body overwhelmingly Asian. Because of the cap on ethnic enrollments, white, black and Latino students were admitted to Lowell with lower scores than their Asian peers.
