Bill, that is what i really like about JDSU---it does have a "real" product and a dominant market position. The market cap is not huge so there is every possibility of mergers etc. still intact. This is a great stock to own or play call options (short term). The stock split is December 29 so there is an added support. When a company splits its stock, it is a matter of determining the reasons---great business or simply to make the stock affordable. I bet it is probably both, which is still bullish in my book.
Remember the Sun Micro split announcement last week. The stock rallied and later an analyst met with the company management and made more bullish comments. I tend to intrepret JDSU's announcement as a bullish indicator.

I am finding an even better options play in AOL and a little bit in Nortel Networks. Should continue to be a ride (AOL) in the coming week or so---or even longer.

MSFT is stalling (temporarily of course) so i had to look for other candidates.
