When my first business was doing really well a few years ago my father used to tell me to pay off my mortgage instead of playing the stock market or buying my cars with cash. I said "But Dad my mortgage has an interest rate of 5 1/2 percent. Why would I want to pay that off?" His answer was always "So you don't have to worry about it." I said "But why would I need to worry about the mortgage since the payments are less than what most people pay for rent." Again he just keeps looking at me strange. Lola:)
