Actually , I don't get it either. I've been thinking about moving back into the sector... but this is totally bizarre to say the least. the oil service stock thread might have some explanation...but I haven't found it yet.

i think ptc is going to be okay even with that kohn guy. that they held so well tells me there's support and some anticipation of an acceptable earnings report.... but you can get killed playing both sides of the fence....for that there are better bets IMO...

The low or no inflation scenario was spooking the oil sector today. There is a strong chance that Fed won't hike rates this year. GLM, IO, GOU - they are all very attractive again. I am buying on any further dips in the sector. 2000 will be a great year for oil service sector. IO at $ 7 is a steal. There is a very high chance that someone will buy "IO" soon for at least $ 12+. There is your quick 70 % return. PMTC's resilience today impressed me. Market sold off too much, IMHO! Good times are ahead, hang in Folks!
