I made a note here that bullish sentiment on the US dollar was 93% on 7/7/99 (almost the EXACT top):

On that same day bullish sentiment was 13% for gold (almost the EXACT bottom):

The above was probably 50% of my reason for going long gold on 7/7 and adding around 7/15/99, 25% was the cost of production vs. spot, another 25% was the "gold is dead" and "twenty year low" talk along with $150 predictions for spot.

Sentiment is a terrific contrarion indicator.
