Kash,
speaking of bogus BS,

Part 2 of GamePC "FUD" is online.

gamepc.com

"As you can see from the benchmarks, the Pentium III 600B thrives in the correct configuration, with a Voodoo3 and at 89 MHz AGP speed. So we can keep things fair, we threw in a Voodoo3 2000 PCI board into the realm to test on a standard 33 MHz PCI slot. No surprise, the Athlon won those tests. Also, the Quake2 Crusher software tests were won by the Athlon, since the program doesn't touch the 3D card, and is straight processor pixel crunching.

I will stress again, the Pentium III 600B is a phenomenal processor, in the right configurations. When the processor is setup with the proper components, benchmark numbers go through the roof. Although, there are very few cards that can run at the 89MHz AGP level, but the Voodoo3 runs at this level without any lockups or crashes. We are not saying this configuration is for everybody, but those with BX motherboards and Voodoo3 cards, this is a configuration that can beat a similarly stocked Athlon 600 system at the moment.

A lot of of people will still be skeptical about our benchmarks, and we won't be able to change your minds. Many of you think because we sell the components, we're one-sided about this issue. We sell both the 600B and Athlon, friends, we think both of them are phenomenal processors. The Athlon right now can beat the 600B in many test, and looks like the perfect offering for the serious gamer who doesn't want to test the limits of his/her hardware. On the other hand, the 600B with a V3 3500 offers some obvious performance advantages over the Athlon right now, and is better suited for the extreme gamer who wants the most out of their hardware, a market which GamePC has catered to for years"

Elmer posted a news release. I see nothing BS about that.

My guess is GamePC is doing what it thinks it must do; however much BS may be involved in the process. Look how much publicity they got!

Re: "Reminds me of that GamePC BS that elmer plastered all over SI regarding the Coppermine kicking Athlons BUTT."

Kash I don't appreciate your intentionally misrepresenting what was posted. I posted a press release. If you don't agree with it, your beef is with the company who made the statements. It seems to me you are the one posting BS here.

<Re: "AMD Inside Info post"

Yup, I agree.

This guy is clearly a hoax.

Fab/Test engineers DO NOT talk about overclocking etc.

This is most probably an overclocker trying to gain some notoriety.>

Agree with you on fab/test guys talking about overclocking. I thought the language was supspect too. But, it could have been that an overclocker may have presented the data he heard from a AMD guy in his own words. On the otherhand, you may be right and this may be a hoax.

The data, however, does seem in the ballpark...
