US DVD player sales up 243% in the lastest week............

Vital Statistics - 9/28/99

According to CEMA, for the week ending Sept. 17, 1999, DVD player sales reached 39,191, a 243 percent increase from 1998. Projection television sales were also up for the week at 28,174, a 33.4 percent increase. Month-to-date, DVD player sales are 117,831, up 329.9 percent and projection televisions are also on the rebound at 75,439, a 31.2 percent increase. Year-to-date, DVD players are doing phenomenally having sold just short of two million, 1,989,687, a 323.7 percent increase from 1998 and projection television sales are hanging in there with 725,531 sold, a 10.8 percent increase.
