Online trader index is planned

By Frank Barnako, CBS MarketWatch
Last Update: 3:25 PM ET Sep 29, 1999 Listen to Internet Daily

Ameritrade Holding Corporation (AMTD: news, msgs) said Wednesday will
create a daily index of the buying and selling activity of its online investors. The
data will also include a listing of most active equities. "There is little good
information currently available specifically on what the online investors are doing,"
said Nicholas Polson, professor of econometrics and statistics at the University of
Chicago Graduate School of Business. He said the Ameritrade index, expected
before the end of the year, will be useful.
