OTOT I know we're supposed to be sober, sensible, serious investors, making fine returns from well-researched, well-considered wagers on proven near-locks. But in five hours today, with only 1/10 the investment, I made more money on an IPO than I have on the rest of my portfolio in more than two months!

When the market closed I called my wife at her office and told her that by investing in her colleague's husband's firm we had just made more than her annual salary. Even she was impressed...

I must confess to being a little light-headed at the moment... <giggle>

PS a description of the company--whose stock could well continue to appreciate down the road--is posted on the EG&K thread. If it had been Foundry--an IPO today that went up 500%--I'd have passed out by now...

PPS here's a real 90s question: what is the appropriate way to say "thank you" for being put on a high-tech IPO's "friends and family" list?
