You may characterize Vidal's take on Lincoln any way you want without fear of contradiction by me, as I haven't read his book. I agree that Vidal is known more for his acerbic wit than for his sober substance.

However the book about Reagan wasn't by Vidal, and in any case, it didn't take Morris or Vidal to tell me Reagan was a suit containing little more than an actor. Whoever was president when he was President, it wasn't he.
