McCain, as I've made clear. I don't know why you would purposely misrepresent this.

>>LOL!<<

You slay yourself.

Team AlGore raises the ante with the claim that AlGore is responsible not just for the internet, but also for the success of AOL and MCI:

Lawyer's brief

We weren't in attendance, but a well-known Washington lawyer who took notes says Gore 2000 campaign manager Craig Smith is standing by a claim that Vice President Al Gore helped usher the Internet into the world.

Speaking at the September 26th Loudoun County (Va.) Democratic Committee Annual Harvest Dinner, Mr. Smith remarked that the vice president has always been ahead of his time.

"Smith again claimed that Gore saw the potential for the Internet while a member of the House 'when the Internet was only several professors e-mailing to each other.' "

The lawyer, paraphrasing Mr. Smith, says "we owe local Internet jobs like AOL [American Online] and MCI/Worldcom in part to Gore."
