GE Transportation establishes centre in India

BOMBAY, Sept 30 (Reuters) - GE Transportation Systems, part of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE - news), has set up an engineering design and development centre in Banglore in southern India, it said in a statement on Thursday.

It will initially focus on power and control electronics design, software systems engineering, diesel engine engineering and mechanical design to develop locomotive systems and components for GE's global railway customers, the statement said.

The centre plans to employ 100 engineers by mid-2000, it said.
