I really do not know the exact position Melinda holds, but she remains an employee of MSFT. I read about this, in _Forbes_, I think, last year. I really do not mean this as a put-down to her, but its like a lawyer who has his wife on the payroll for cleaning his office on Saturdays or the physician who pays his wife to wash his office linens--a legitimate way to employ one's spouse. Yes, I know lawyers and doctors who do this. Lynn P.S. I better not marry either a lawyer or a doctor.
