LIHRY is probably an ADR that is equivalent to a multiple of shares of the Australian-listed stock.

Fuddle may be right about the ADR comment, multiples play a role, for sure. I have looked at a few more things and continue to be a little stumped. They owned almost 200 million shares of Lihir (this summer) at a market value of +200M US. That makes Lihir a billion dollar gold company, are they??? Also the market knew about this 200 million dollar (US) asset and the stock was recently trading at 7 cents, with a market cap of under 10 million Canadian?? Very strange.

biz.yahoo.com - i don't understand this either - Yahoo's profile on lihry here says there's only 47.1mil outstanding ... here's their website - lihir.com.pg .. click on 'General Lihir Information', that page has an url to a pdf file on the ownership structure ... which doesn't say how many shares per ADR.
