OT YellowDog has held gold for soooo long, and will always do so as "insurance". But I bought the hard stuff...$20 gold coins from 1890 or so. The good thing about buying rare coins is that they retain value due to the numismatic aspect.

I bought 'em in case the world ever collapses. You know that a $20 gold piece is a great inflation hedge. For example, in 1890 a $20 gold coin would buy you a hotel room, a woman and a bottle of whiskey. Today, it will still buy the same. How's that for DogLogic?
