Give the long term political factors and the serious concerns I have regarding the Euro and the yen I believe the US dollar is the most attractive long term store of value. If Japan were to get its act straightened out the yen would become attractive. The Euro worries me because I distrust the statist instincts of the French, Italians and Spaniards. It was a sad day when we lost the German mark. Sterling would be a possibility but I think they will eventually join the Euro. No other currency has a sufficiently developed capital market to provide sufficient liquidity or diversity of investment alternatives. So the dollar remains my favored base.
