Can anyone help me? I thought I read one the recent messages to say that Mr. Schwartz would be giving a speech today? Does anyone know if this is true? And what was said?

<This would suggest that
for the first two months, the only users will be freeloading employees of the service
providers.>

I think this is probably unduly pessimistic. Surely there will be "freeloading employees" of retailer service personnel and institutional customers as well.

Seriously, from what I could see from the Vod/Airtouch slides, I think the rollout is being handled pretty impecably. I was especially encouraged by slide 55, for example

loral.com

It shows that Airtouch is serious about getting retail SPs signed up "goal of at least two distributers per customer segment and 85% geographic coverage." It lists Iusacell as a Mexican SP already signed up. Iusacell is a Bell Atlantic venture in Mexico with almost 1M subscribers and pretty broad retail service base.

Elsewhere, G* says they have 223(!!) retail service SPs signed up with a cum. subscriber base of over 100M.

The remaining worry I have is the GSM phones. Apparently they were nowhere to be seen at the investors conference. Hope they show up in Geneva.
