To daytrading thread:

I am looking for some fresh ideas in compiling my watch list. I am not too good at watching 100 plus symbols like some of you are-- maybe it's my age <ggg>. I do best when I have a smaller universe of stocks to watch. I am looking for some new ways at compiling my daily lists.

So you will know, at present I screen for prices between $15 and $35 with a beta of 2 or more and a minimum volume of 1 million shares on NASDAQ stocks only. After the day begins, I scan for abnormal volume within the same price range with decent volume and add those. I also add top percentage gainers an losers within the price range with decent volume.

One of my frustrations is that often times a move is nearly over by the time I find it. Sometimes I short the end of the rally or go long the selloff for a short counter trend trade, but this generally is a smaller potential move than the major move itself.

I have found this volatile market (where the general trend changes direction two or three times a day) to give me much shorter timeframes in which to make a couple of good trades. I am interested in some good ideas that would give me some other things to try. Thanks for your help.

Leland: Are you using any oscillators to identify ST overbought or oversold conditions to help you differentiate between short pullbacks to catch a breath and reversals in intraday trends?
