My guess is that the reason for the strategy is that dell feels that service is a low profit, acrimonious poor sister. All they will want to do is sell the boxes, hit and run so to speak. This will work, if 8-ways approach commodization. Just a bigger white box. Then, if something goes wrong, and I am speaking Spanish here so you may want to get someone to translate it for you, they can tell the Customer, "Eeets No Eas My Problemo"

What do you think? Will 8-ways be a commodity within 3-4 months?? (that's ofcourse, 3-4 months AFTER INTEL gets a MB that works. :)
