rude makes some salient points....$40b companies don't just disappear, they usually morph into a new configuration with progressive management. regardless of comments of gerstner not knowing what a pc was, he did just fine as a business man turning big blue around. dell took business from cpq, not necessarily because of product superiority, but more cpq management inferiority. i think if cpq exhibits strong management direction, it can be a turn around darling of the street candidate. dell needs to convince the market that they are more then a pc maker. the service deal with ibm benefits the big guy. so much for organics...
