I read The Morning Coffee only when I'm having a really bad day and I need a laugh. Like I really want to read an email every morning that tells me how these scammers intend to screw me with their free investment advice. It's not free . . . it's bloody expensive if you actually do what they recommend.

Kaiser did have some very good points in his email though. I'll list some of them . . .

- it is estimated that the gold carry trade has allowed a short position of central bank leased gold to accumulate to as high as 14,000 tonnes

- the gold short positions are supposed to be protected through call options but it appears that many have engaged in the gold carry trade without buying the calls as insurance against gold prices exploding

- the recent explosion in the POG has been because of a short squeeze intensified by the fact that many producers also covered their own shorts

- the increase in the POG was also aided by an expiry of a big batch of call options which are not replaceable in the current market except at big premiums

- the public may view gold as a momo play (imagine that!)
