New Price Challenger Hits PC-to-Phone Market; Call From Anywhere In The World To The U.S.A., Canada or U.K. For 10 Cents A Minute Using GTC Telecom's CallingPlanet.com
BUSINESS WIRE - September 30, 1999 09:02
COSTA MESA, Calif., Sep 30, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GTC Telecom (OTC BB:GTCC) which leads in the domestic long distance wars (5 cents per minute, no fees, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) is entering the PC-to-Phone International market with the same fervor by announcing today that GTC Telecom's CallingPlanet.com will offer a no fee, no hidden costs, 10 cents a minute rate for certain International calls.

This special rate will be available to CallingPlanet.com customers calling from anywhere in the world to the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.

Paul Sandhu, President & CEO of GTC Telecom, states, "Although the product will not be available for roughly 90 days, we have received tremendous interest in our new product and our pricing strategy. To reinforce our commitment to competitive, customer targeted pricing, we announced today a few countries where international inbound calls will only cost 10 cents a minute. These countries receive a high percentage of inbound traffic, and this pricing will be very attractive to customers who are paying several dollars per minute to make these calls. Additional pricing will be released closer to our launch date."

International country-to-country calling is the new frontier. "There are only a handful of programs out in the marketplace today that are even attempting to tap into this area such as Net2Phone's (Nasdaq:NTOP), ITCX Corporation (Nasdaq:ITXC), and Ursus Telecom's (Nasdaq:UTCC) Web to phone. We believe our flat rate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week will appeal to everyone," states Sandhu.
