I have also wondered that about Intel. They lower prices to force AMD to lower prices so AMD can lose more money not to spur demand. Lower prices for PCs has not led to lower margins in any meaningful way. Component costs have gone down as fast or faster.

Guess you never heard of competition, as in passing through savings due to component price declines, in order to lower your pricing points IN ORDER TO TAKE BUSINESS AWAY FROM YOUR COMPETITORS WHO CAN ONLY MATCH YOUR PRICE BY LOSING MONEY!! If you don't understand that, go ask IBM & CPQ, they know all about competing with DELL (not possible with their non-direct models). Cheers
