Hi Bill-

<..I would have thought some of this volatility would have left when the convertible prefered stocks were retired...>

there are STILL significant convertible debt and preferred shares outstanding

<..Could this really be due only to momentum investors?..>

no. there were many fundamental institutional investors who have been confused and displeased with the content and style of the estimate guidance WCII gave. and that's what makes a market as they say.

fwiw, while most who read here will allow that i am not a wild rumor monger, several tidbits from interesting sources have surfaced recently.

the first is that KK&R may take an equity stake in TGNT to the tune of ~$1B - which is coincidentally purportedly to be in the ballpark of Rajendra Singh's (chairman of LCCI - the company who did NOT get the TGNT Triton contract) remaining stake.

If true would clearly indicate a distance from the previously assumed T linkage (which TGNT has maintained emphatic independence from)

and while it is known that these companies frequently consider and do due diligence on synergistic relationships/partnerships, the second are rumblings of a Microsoft equity interest in WCII. What makes this currently unlikely is WCII's stock price. I suspect that any equity stake in WinStar would need be in the neighborhood of $70-$80 - NOT likely at this point.

BL -

I would have thought some of this volatility would have left when the convertible prefered stocks were retired. Could this really be due only to momentum investors?

1. The Convertibles were replaced soon after the retirement.

2. WCII has a massive short position and it is alos a shorters dream. The slightest bit of negativity or bad market sentiment and the shorts come in and take gravy out of this stock time after time after time.

Its a great company only very very frustrating that it is just taking a little longer to get to EBITDA positive.

Best regards,

L
