Thanks Pat- but its primarily a course summary document. I've taken many of these short courses at previous US-based conferences.

Pat, If i had a few hundred million or even a billion dollars sitting in JDSU, i would be selling!
Money should be diversified----these big wigs have almost everything in company. I don't blame them for selling----actually i would expect them to sell no matter how good the business outlook is.

Re: Holey Fiber

From the ECOC Conference Programme:

Towards practical holey fibre technology : fabrication, splicing and characterization P.J.Bennett, T.M.Monro, D.J.Richardson, Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, Southampton, UKWe report the fabrication of long lengths of mechanically-robust holey fibre and the first demonstration of their splicing. These practical advances have permitted the first detailed characterization of a holey fibre around 1.5mm.

OK, I give, what the heck is holey fiber?
