NEW YORK, Sept 30 (Reuters) -
----- snip -------
The Wall Street Journal's "Heard on the Street" column
reports that hedge funds have been shorting gold and may wind
up with losses like the ones a year ago when some funds shorted the yen.
The New York Times "Market Place" story reports that
actively managed mutual funds outpaced the S&P index, which is
down 7.3 percent since June 30.
After the markets close on Thursday, Fed chairman Alan
Greenspan will deliver a speech in Minneapolis, titled "Tradeand Technology."
