FRANKLIN, Mass. (Dow Jones)--PLC Systems Inc. (PLC) said a study published in
The New England Journal of Medicine indicats that patients with severe angina
have significantly improved outcomes following transmyocardial revascularization
with its carbon dioxide, or CO2, heart laser.

In a press release Wednesday, PLC Systems said results of the random,
one-year, multicenter trial showed significantly reduced chest pain, improved
quality of life and increased blood flow to the heart following the carbon
dioxide laser treatment.

The company said that each year, about 80,000 Americans develop severe
coronory artery disease that cannot be treated by conventional techniques like
bypass surgery or angioplasty.

PLC Systems develops medical systems and technology.
