Brown raised its rating on C/NET's shares to a STRONG BUY from a MARKET PERFORM. The brokerage said it believes the company has the best commerce model on the Web ? even though it doesn't sell anything. It offers news and information that enable buyers to make comparisons on products and services. The brokerage also said it believes this is the best time to invest in the company's shares. For 1999, it forecasts that the company will lose $0.49 per share, but believes it will turn profitable in 2000, when it expects C/NET to post EPS of $0.28. For 3Q99, the company is forecast to post a loss of $0.32 per share and a loss of $0.31 per share for 4Q99. The company's shares were trading at $53.43 early on September 27.
