Midland likely had lots of ven, they've been talking it up for four years at least ... they probably did the original financing, imho ... their 01/09/99 update [Michael Curran] had ven as short-term neutral, long-term accumulate ... i don't know when they dropped it from #1 Screaming Buy, but not very long ago i think.

They have a new update out this morning, upgraded ven to short-term accumulate ... so i guess that's why we see them on the sell side -g- ... here's the summary paragraph -

"With the unburdening of Vengold's balance sheet, we
have upgraded our intermediate term recommendation
on Vengold from a Neutral to an Accumulate, and
introduce an 18-month price objective of C$0.55 per
Vengold share. We are retaining our longer term
Accumulate rating on the stock, for our bullish view of
Lihir Gold Limited as a long-term investment.
