Wayne, fwiw I was half joking with the comment about long term perspective. I tend to do my investing from a long term perspective as well. I have a 5 year horizon for my personal investing. My comment was directed more to 'gold bugs' and others than you. I have found that a lot of people use long term perspective as a cop out. The perspective become long term after they have lost money in the short run. Taking a long term perspective is a wise think to do when initially adopting a position. However I have found that a lot of people adopt positions with a short term view and it only becomes long term after the market fails to behave :) Henry
