And another thing on RAMBUS... This person Carl (a.k.a Bilow) seems to me to be very well informed on the technical end of chip architecture. In this link he presents the potential (discontinuous? In my mind more evolutionary) technology that could supplant RAMBUS

One of the things limiting MCM's has been power dissipation within the module. A confluence of two trends (lower operating voltage and copper metal lines) will ameliorate that problem. His stated timeline may be a bit aggressive. Also I'm not familiar with the RAMBUS patents so I do not know if their advantage is really limited to PCB busses.

Frank:

Gorillas in "global networking market" (includes some OLD Gorillas)!

"Cisco Remains in the Top Position in Technology Business Research, Inc. 2Q99 NBQ Ranking; Consolidation and Strategic Alliances Driving a New Industry Structure".

From an interesting post at:

This is what I like about the methodology employed by the newsletter (published in my old home town) referenced in the post:

"benchmarking methodology ranks the leading global networking vendors on a comparative basis every quarter, based on effective implementation of product strategy, marketing strategy, manufacturing strategy, and business model"

Hi Unq,

With that fuzzy problem, maybe as an eye doctor I can help. Run over here to Atlanta on some free time or if I can get there in Feb for our get together, I'll SEE if I can help. <gggg>
