Sidney -- re. joint control of nukes -- please note that I said ALMOST all of the rest.

Although not a scholar of Russian history and affairs like Joan, I do know that the Russians are one of the most deservedly paranoid (militarily) nations on earth. It is in the world's interest that they not feel too threatened (I personally don't care much for NATO expansion in the way it's being done, BTW).

And, frankly, I don't think Russian leaders are especially more devious than any others. I am willing to hear other views on this.

As you may have gathered from some of my comments on Reagan, I am fairly hard-line when it comes to U.S. interests. I just don't think anyone benefits when there are literally tens of thousands of atomic warheads laying about.

You are probably right in being glad that I am not in charge, though. I have all kinds of really "out-of-the-box" ideas!

Mike
