I had the misfortune of buying Rambus at 100 and I've sold out at 64. I'm not a techie but from the postings and articles I've read, the following should be obvious:

1. Rambus will not participate in the fourth quarter/Xmas season and this will kill its earnings when they report in January 2000.

2. No one has a clue as to how long it will be before this glitch is solved.

3. There has been significant loss of confidence on Wall Street in Rambus technology and there is enough buzz about Intel and other chipmakers looking for alternatives to be both worrisome and believable. Above all, remember this --
Wall St. hates uncertainty and penalizes it appropriately.

In sum, any investment is (IMO) dead money for the next two quarters. With high probability of a strong 4th quarter coming up after the October Fed meeting (bet here is that interest rates are left alone), there are better places to put one's money.

I hate losing 36% on my Rambus investment, but I plan on redeploying what remains into a better stock (JDSU, CNXT, VOD, NXLK are some names that come to mind) for the next 3 months and making some of the loss back. Remember -- the only thing worse than making a mistake is prolonging it.

Re: RMBS horror post from Guy Peter Cordero...

I've never trusted guys named "Guy" (particularly when they begin their post "Hi guys!")<g>

Still real scary post. Though its hard to believe that after all of this time Intel could just be discovering that Rambus doesn't work! Sounds a little unlike Intel to put so much behind something so flawed...

I'm holding strong! (I think...) :-O
