Michelle, One thing I do know because of what I was told by my mother and aunts, is that the real turn-around for women came with WW2 and they were needed for jobs they had never been considered for in the past. When the war was over, they knew what it was like and most did not go back to the kitchen. I will admit that employers, all men of course, did their best to discourage this attitude but were not successful. The women mentioned in the "women's lib" movement did very little for the cause of working women. As Lisa said, they had a political agenda more so than an ideological aim. What they did, was cause bitterness between the sexes and probably hampered the process of progress for women.^ ^ ^TD
