More effective than whom? The man who didn't recognize his own son at the boy's graduation? You mean than his puppeteers. Face it, Michael. From my own personal standpoint, it's not an appetizing choice across the board. However, one feature I will keep in mind as a filter as I ponder this unpalatable exercise is to what degree was this candidate in fact a war criminal. Whatever else he was, Ronald Reagan was a war criminal. Through puppeteer William Casey, he illegally created and supplied the Contra army in Nicaragua that killed somewhere between thirty and sixty thousand human beings. Civilian deaths were above eighty percent. He was unable to comprehend the criminality or enormity of this. It was beyond his intellectual grasp. No compensation has ever been paid nor guilt acknowledged. Other presidents managed to conduct their long-running contestation with the Evil Empire without descending to quite such extremes of criminality. I think I prefer almost any of them, for that consideration alone.
