"aol has no interest in owning anything physical in the pipe"

not sure how buying the remaining shares of athm would give aol ownership of anything physical...does athm own any "pipes"? are they not at the mercy of the cable companies?

wouldn't aol benefit from the synergy of a joint venture with the owner of the pipe(s). att has what aol wants....this way all the litigation goes away..... athm may be the means to sidestep regulatory decisions....and in essence would become a pawn (not much more then that now) in an interesting alliance....

as i originally stated..a thought, perhaps absurd...something is going on, i think we'd agree on that...
