I suspect that Sprint does understand that they will ultimately have to switch to an unlimited, flat fee system. However, they are currently (at least in many areas) the only game in town. Very few other providers are even offering data. They are going to milk it as long as they can. As soon as VOD introduces data, expect price wars--much like we are currently seeing for voice. Eventually the carriers will migrate to a flat fee system. This is very similar to the traditional ISPs. It took years to get truly flat fee service. Hopefully, the wait will not be as long...
