Eric: Perhaps AMZN is in the 'announcements' business -- LOL. Others come out with compelling products, services and
financial results -- AMZN comes out with compelling 'announcements' <g>

GST,

Good point. That has been AMZN's claim to fame.

Amzn is fast becoming a jack of all trade and a master of none, except may be the master of investor-relation hype.

On the product side, their low-margin do-it-all approach would make sense if they already were an established distribution and logistics powerhouse (a la Walmart), but they aren't, and most new business they enter will lose money.

On the information service side, they will be going head to head with Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft, as late entrants.

Going against those companies while losing money should prove to be an interesting show.
