Speak for yourself, pardner. Maybe you are unable to handle the complexities of using margin and don't possess the agility to move in and out of a position, but don't assume we all are similarly handicapped. Perhaps you will learn more about how to play the game in the future, but I have my doubts.

Just because the game is beyond YOUR abilities, doesn't mean we all have your limitations. And, I really don't need some two-bit timid bystander to tell me what broker is right for me.

Go out and learn a little, and come back when you have some idea of what you're talking about.

If you routinely get margin calls, you are over-reaching your assets. If you want restrictions, have them deauthorize your account for margin. Or go to Schwab - they have an infinite supply of arbitrary rules, you will probably like Schwab a lot. Don't invite Datek to police the rest of us for your inexperience. Have your mother supervise your trading until you are ready to take responsibility for your own decisions. Don't ask them to dumb down the tool for the rest of us who DO take responsibility for our trading moves.

Jim S called it right. Datek/Island are sucking up to the SEC/Levitt in hopes of favorable treatment of the "exchange" application. Levitt seems to buy into the "long term" BS, so Datek/Island are stooging up to it. Our short term loss, though Datek/Island longer term do seem to be pushing the markets to greater transparancy which is to our long term benefit. Just another trade-off.

Datek probably was the broker for Jim S ... before they had to start wiping noses - like yours. For you? Try mother-broker.com Or just confine yourself to trading Pokemon cards. (Without using margin.) You might do better trading against 10-year olds. And you can have your mommy call their mommy if they hurt you too badly.
